Walt Wilkins
&
Sam Baker

with

Jared "Pete" Gile

1/23/05
It was another
magical night with
Mr. Walt Wilkins and
friends.

Jared "Pete" Gile drove
down all the way from
Kansas (on his birthday,
no less!!) to play a great
opening set.

It was obvious by the
great response he got, that he will have to come back
and play again, soon.

The last time Walt played for us (with Susan Gibson & Brandon Rhyder), everyone in the audience was so enthralled with their performances, you could have heard a pin drop. Tonight was no different. Although we had a full house, everyone in attendance was in awe of the talent on the stage. We had never had Sam Baker at a show, but I can guarantee you... he WILL be back!
From the moment he started doing his sound check (check, check, check... to the tune of jingle bells), we could tell it was not only going to be a great night of music, but these two guys are not only very talented... they are FUNNY!

At one time, Walt made the comment they were turning into The Smothers Brothers. For those of us in attendance that remember the Smothers Brothers... he wasn't too far off!

One of the funniest moments of the night was when Walt got out his "cheat sheet" to a song he had recently written. He couldn't read it without reading glasses, so someone in the audience offered him theirs. Then, Sam was trying to help Walt with the words, but Sam couldn't see them, either, so someone else gave him their glasses!
Walt brought his beautiful (and very talented) wife, Tina, to the show and she got up and did a couple of songs with him. She is a sign language interpreter and she even did signing with one of the songs. It was great!
Sam grew up in Hill County ("two counties to the south of here"), in the same town as Tommy Alverson. Tommy and Sam have known each other since they were kids, so it was great that Tommy (and his bass player, Jerry Abrams) came out to support Sam & Walt. Tommy even got up and did a song for us.
Sam also asked his sister up to the stage, and she sang two songs with him.
If you ever get a chance to see Sam, go!! He is a very talented guy and VERY entertaining.
Thanks, again, to Jeff & LeiLani for taking these great pictures. We are beginning to get spoiled... hope you come back next week!!

Thanks to Walt & Sam for a GREAT night of music!

We're already looking forward to the next time you grace our stage.
