95.9 The Ranch
"Roadhouse Show"
with
Walt Wilkins & The Mystiqueros
July 29, 2007
Tonight's installment of the Clubhouse Concerts Summer Series was done in conjunction with the Ranch's "Roadhouse" Show. Normally, the Ranch broadcasts from Billy Bob's, but there was a private function scheduled for this evening, so we "teamed up" with Chuck Taylor for his live show, which runs every Sunday from 6pm-8pm.
This was the first ever FREE Clubhouse show. Walt and his guys were presented with the option of doing the show live on the radio - for free - or doing the usual Clubhouse show. They agreed, since it was a CD release party, they would love to do it "on the air" and spread both the music of The Mystiqueros, as well as spread the word of the Clubhouse shows. As it turned out - we had a HUGE crowd, and MANY copies of the new cd were seen being sold! It was a great success for all of us!
Chuck Taylor with Walt
Chuck did a great job of interviewing the entire band.
We learned lots of "unknown" facts about everyone.
Did you know what Walt's favorite song is that he has ever written????
"Someone, Somewhere Tonight".

The first song he ever wrote (which they played on the air tonight) was "Songs About Texas".

We also learned that John Greenberg is one of the hardest working  men in Texas music!
He has several new projects of his own, as well as playing full time with The Mystiqueros.
Travis stayed very busy at the "merch" table
Walt and the band stayed busy during the breaks signing copies of the new cd.
As the crowd got bigger, the room got louder with people talking. During a commercial break on the radio, I had to get up and remind everyone that it was a Clubhouse show and just because our sign wasn't up - the rules were still in place ...
SIT DOWN
SHUT UP

Don and Robin Dodd came down from Oklahoma for the show.
Here they are chatting with John Greenberg during a break.

It's no secret that I love Walt & the band!
I have been waiting patiently
( maybe NOT patiently )
for the release of the new CD.
Tonight, I finally got MY copy!
Thanks guys for autographing it for me!

Tonight's show was AWESOME!

You can bet I will be at Woody's this coming Saturday night for another "Mystiqueros fix".
Ray & Bruce talking "shop"??
Bruce is Bonnie Bishop's drummer
and
Ray is the drummer for The Mystiqueros.
Brian Langlinais
( from Lafayette, Louisianna )
was scheduled to "open" the show.
Due to the radio show being from 6pm-8pm, Brian got up after the radio show and did several songs with Walt's band as his "back up band". He was great!
We look forward to getting him back at the Clubhouse in the future.
I got a copy of two of his CD's ( Walt produced the new one, "Rock & Fire" ) and they are really good!
Check Brian out on his my space page or better yet - go see him if you get a chance!
Thanks to Walt, John, Bill, Marcus, Ray and Brian for a GREAT night of music!!
Thanks to Chuck Taylor and the crew from The Ranch for a great show!
Thanks, also, to the staff at The White Elephant for allowing us to "barge in" when the rain came down - and to David Glass for doing a great job on the sound production.

See ya next week where we'll (hopefully) be back outside at The Love Shack!
