Our "Evening with Matt Powell" started off a little questionable...
actually - it ORIGINALLY was scheduled as a song swap with Matt and his good friend, Seth Walker. Seth had a mix-up in his scheduling, and had to cancel, so we decided to have an entire evening of Matt Powell songs.
Jimmy Lynch had been scheduled to open, but had to cancel a few days before show time, so Bobby Duncan stepped up to take the opener's slot. The night before "showtime", Bobby lost his voice.
Josh Davis was more than happy to step in and cover for Bobby, but when he got to The Love Shack, he had almost totally lost his voice, too!
Josh was a trooper and TRIED to play a short set, but couldn't hardly get the words out, so he ended up heading home early.
As the evening got started, the weather looked a little forboding, too.
What else could go wrong???
Just as Matt took the stage, the rain started. It didn't look good... Matt had a little problem with his guitar and had to change a battery and by the time he got it changed, the rain stopped!!
Turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL evening @ The Love Shack and a great show! |
